On almost precipitous ideals

چکیده
With less than 0# two generic extensions of L are identified: one in which א1, and the other א2, is almost precipitous. This improves the consistency strength upper bound of almost precipitousness obtained in [6], and answers some questions raised there. Also, main results of [5] are generalizedassumptions on precipitousness are replaced by those on ∞-semi precipitousness. As an application it is shown that if δ is a Woodin cardinal and there is an f : ω1 → ω1 with ‖f‖ = ω2, then after Col(א2, δ) there is a normal precipitous ideal over א1. The existence of a pseudo-precipitous ideal over a successor cardinal is shown to give an inner model with a strong cardinal.

Some pathological examples of precipitous ideals
We construct a model with an indecisive precipitous ideal and a model with a precipitous ideal with a non precipitous normal ideal below it. Such kind of examples were previously given by M. Foreman [1] and R. Laver [4] respectively. The present examples differ in two ways: firstthey use only a measurable cardinal and secondthe ideals are over a cardinal. Also a precipitous ideal without a norm...
متن کاملA model with a precipitous ideal , but no normal precipitous ideal
Starting with a measurable cardinal κ of the Mitchell order κ++ we construct a model with a precipitous ideal on א1 but without normal precipitous ideals. This answers a question by T. Jech and K. Prikry. In the constructed model there are no Q–point precipitous filters on א1, i.e. those isomorphic to extensions of Cubא1 .
متن کاملOn Normal Precipitous Ideals
An old question of T. Jech and K. Prikry asks if an existence of a precipitous ideal implies necessary existence of a normal precipitous ideal. The aim of the paper is to prove some results in the positive direction. Thus, it is shown that under some mild assumptions, an existence of a precipitous ideal over א1 implies an existence of a normal precipitous ideal over א1 once a Cohen subset is ad...
متن کاملOn generalisations of almost prime and weakly prime ideals
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity. A proper ideal $P$ of $R$ is a $(n-1,n)$-$Phi_m$-prime ($(n-1,n)$-weakly prime) ideal if $a_1,ldots,a_nin R$, $a_1cdots a_nin Pbackslash P^m$ ($a_1cdots a_nin Pbackslash {0}$) implies $a_1cdots a_{i-1}a_{i+1}cdots a_nin P$, for some $iin{1,ldots,n}$; ($m,ngeq 2$). In this paper several results concerning $(n-1,n)$-$Phi_m$-prime and $(n-1,n)$-...
متن کاملOn Partially Wellfounded Generic Ultrapowers
We construct a model without precipitous ideals but so that for each τ < א3 there is a normal ideal over א1 with generic ultrapower wellfounded up to the image of τ .
